Fables: The Hare and the Tortoise

The Hare and the Tortoise is a famous fable by Aesop, dating back to the 6th century BC
You are first going to read the fable and try to fill in the gaps with the correct words, click here for the exercise:

Thehareandthetortoise.htm

Then, you may want to read it again, check if it has any sense and see if you can pronounce all the words. If there are any unknown words you can look them up at Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary but if there are just a few words you don't know how to pronounce, you can listen to them as many times as you want at Howjsay.com

When you think you are ready, you can listen to me reading the fable and check your answers here: The Hare and the Tortoise or go to AesopFables.com to read and listen to it

Finally I recommend you visit this website: Fables from Aesop and listen to a very nice adapted online version of the fable by Tom Lynch.

You can download audio-files with many fables (and many other books!) at Librivox, which you can copy on a CD or store in your MP3 player to later listen to them
